I've grown up to the sound of them but it wasn't until I was a little older until I could actually understand what a didgeridoo was though. My Dad was in the Navy and met my mom in Australia. They both played Yothu Yindi while I was growing up. My music teacher in elementary school had one and she would bring it into class sometimes and play it. I've always loved the sound of them it's so unique. |

We had not long moved to Australia when my 3 small children & I went to see the three sisters in Katoomba NSW & there sat an Aboriginal man so serene Didge in hand Eucalyptus leaves he had it going on I was in total awe WoW an 'Aboriginal' he beckoned us over showed the children his Didgeridoo talked with us & played for us the sounds that came moved me deeply I cant describe other than I felt at home & so at peace he then passed his Didge to my son I watched his whole being light up it touched my little boys heart it was something he connected with he LOVES the Didgeridoo & practices with passion.. I will never forget that day & will be forever grateful it was like that special man & his didge was there at that time just for us.. My son is now about to turn 25 a Didgeridoo the perfect gift that captivated my boy all those years ago.. |
