What is the longest you have played didj continuously using circular breathing (without any break in the sound at all)? |
Please share your experience of playing didj continuously for long periods of time? |

I felt more and more relaxed going deeper into myself making more and more song at the same time by being more concentrated and playing more subtly I was able to play different melody at a time it was a kind of meditation I could feel the inside of the didj vibrating and myself as one. |

It's actually quite unique... at first I noticed the small conflict between my body's breathing circle and the didj's circular breathing circle... and then of course my abdomen call for attention... but soon it all just fades away. the vibration spreads from my skull to my shoulders and goes on to the rest of my body. the rhythm and the sounds gently pull my thoughts into order and most things seem quite easier to look at... it's very fulfilling. |

All I can say is your senses become blurred you can't feel that you are sitting but you are supported you're not floating but you're surrounded by air all around your whole being goes numb and feels more intently all at the same time. |

The longest I have played is about 9 minutes and it was amazing! It strongly resembled deep meditation which usually takes me much longer to achieve without the didge. |

Creative and meditative. Even short periods of play produce new and creative thought processes for me. I use a didj to facilitate my writing process interrupting my writing with didj playing when I'm blocked. |

I took my first lesson yesterday and I'm already enchanted. Within a day I have been able to circular breathe for about a minute and each time I try it I'm able to keep going for a little longer. I really look forward to the chance to delve further into what seems to be a very magical experience! |

First let me clarify the above about my didj I have one I think that it could be termite hollowed and it does have hand painted art work on it but I have no idea or proof of its provenance and doubt its authenticity. It also is very hard to play and does not sound good at all! The 5 - 10 minute session I had was using my brother in laws didj (who was the person who first introduced me to didj's) and I am not sure how I did it I can just about circular breathe but but not more then maybe 3 or 4 cycles (not having a proper didj means I only get to practice when I see my brother in law) but this time it all seemed to come together and I got into a fantastic rhythm and whilst I was playing it felt fantastic I was completely zoned it was fantastic and I can't wait to get the chance again when I am next at his |

1. Equal comfortable rhythm of breath. 2. Switching between "lung air" to "cheek"air in the half of exhaust phase of breath. 3. Mucosa of nasal cavity should be free of swell otherwise one cannot inhale air thru nose what is essential for circular breathing; (example: hay fever). 4. If it is possible - I practice playing in total darkness - after ~30 minutes of playing a new ideas for a rhythm intonation sound - are coming itself - full improvisation with perfect feeling of sounds produced. It is incredible experience!!! I have got problem with catarrh - mites (house dust) allergy and an excess of salivation - after ~15 minutes of continuous playing I must stop and swallow saliva - and go on for the next ~15 minutes. I dislike to "spit" into my didge... During swell of my nose mucous I can practice various sounds only but when the swelling goes away - the true playing with full loud and deep sounds-playing is beginning!!! Of course with circular breathing. |

I am just getting started b ut I have had pervious experiences with extended periods of breath work. even in the past few days the times when I keep the circular breathing going on the didj I feel amazing. I feel shifts in reality a deep resonance that alters consciousness and aids in tapping into archaic/current collective unconscious. |

I lived in Amsterdam as a street musician for all of 1998. To survive I played didgeridoo for up to 5 hours a day. This was the beginning of my love for the didgeridoo. I still play for 3 or 4 hours at a time when I can (mostly in the summer as I do not like playing inside buildings). After playing for about 1 hour I begin to feel extremely good. The rhythms of the didge become my rhythms. I feel like I am floating. |

I made my own practice didj a few years ago and haven't yet had to chance to get an authentic one of my own. Lots of knock-offs being sold around here to the tourists. I find it a peaceful almost spiritual experience which allows me to empty my mind and contemplate what a traditional didj artist and player might think about when they play theirs under the stars near a campfire etc. |

The didge is a spiritual instrument and as such produces in me an euphoric experience my breathing can become strained and this adds to a sort of out of it feeling. I often ask for guidance from the Great Spirit and in turn receive intuitive instruction of the sounds I produce. |

It washes away my stresses and fills me with peace. I was lucky enough to perform in front of an audience of around 800 last year here in Japan as part of my taiko concert (Japanese drums). The audience was very appreciative. I was very pleased to have been able to share this extraordinary instrument with them and will play again next year to similar numbers. |
