I don't know exactly what contemporary style is. I really like he traditional stuff I have heard. I am aware that traditional style is tied to aboriginal culture which is tied to the land in Australia. I just play what feels good. Classifying music is not easy for me. |

I guess I'm not too sure. It seems that traditional styles might be a simpler repetitive rhythm with more focus on mimicking the sounds of nature and making that connection to your surroundings. |

Traditional didgeridoos are mainly used with singing clap sticks and dancing for ceremonial purposes. Playing styles vary between different regions of Northern Australia and often involve fast complex rhythms with sounds created by intricate tongue work. Contemporary is something other than traditional. |

Contemporary is more percussive than traditional. Contemporary works more with breaking the drone up using consonants. Traditional is used for more meditative and healing purposes. Both however are healing mechanisms in my opinion. |

Traditional styles are unique to specific clans or regions eg. West Arnhem Land or North East Arnhem Land hard tongue styles. These rhythms hold much cultural importance and are often used in ceremony. Contemporary styles are typically played by non-aboriginal people and have less of an indigenous cultural heritage than traditional playing styles. |
