Name and Country How many times have you been to Australia? How many times have you met Australian Aboriginal people? Please share your perceptions and impressions of Australian Aboriginal people
Anonymous from USA Never Never They are Australian natives that live in tribes. To me they represent the richness of Australia's culture.
Anonymous from USA Never Never A people who have been greatly mistreated that I find fascinating.
Larry from USA Never Never People of the Earth - respectful of Her - one with Her.
Pamela Ruigh from USA Never Never I watch a lot of videos of First people playing the didge. I love Raymond Marpin on You Tube. I do hope everyone makes an effort to preserve this wonderful indigenous culture.
Ossie from Australia Aus 10+ I am aboriginal so I think they are great
Anonymous 2 2 Friendly honest down to earth
Marcel from Spain Never Never They seem to me very kindly people with interesting ancient culture.
Karen from USA Never Never Know practically nothing about them but what I've heard makes me think they are in a similar situation to American Indian tribes.
Steve Schofield from Australia Aus 3 I have had some of the most powerful experiences of my life with the limited contact I have had with Australian Aboriginals. I could write many pages on this subject and am happy to do so if you ask. Basically my feelings are that there is a deeply shameful lack of understanding among the settlers of this land. The depth and validity of aboriginal culture is simply not recognised. I am sad for this. So much has been lost. I did have the opportunity to engage with some elder women when I first arrived in this country. One of them had met Harold Lasetter when she was 9 years old. They showed me how to make spinifex resin and I got to witness their magic in how they related to the bush as an extension of themselves. It was like they were the bush. I also spent time on the streets of Sydney with a wonderful man who asked me for money. I gave him what was in my wallet and I sat with him and chatted next to his friend who was asleep. We spoke of many things a lot about his hardships. When it was time for me to leave (i have tears as I type this) he held my hand and said a prayer for me. Nobody had ever done that for me before. I still remember what he said and I tell people about it. After I had left and walked a hundred meters or so I heard him cry out my name and wishing me well. My hand felt hot for a long time after that. His name was Phillip.
Jeff from USA Never Never Genuine earthy impoverished
David from Australia Aus 10+ I really think that most people need to spend some time to understand Aboriginals. They are ordinary people but the perception of them is different to what you learn when you are with them. I find them warm inviting family knit culturally and very deeply connected to the planet. From what has been shared with experience and learning I feel more aboriginal about this country that I do as a White Australian. I fear that that just like other cultures of this earth that the Australian Aboriginal will disappear into mythology. However the likes of tradition in Art making Music Dance and Story telling is a necessity in Aboriginal life as is its cultural belief and Westerners should leave well alone to allow beauty to flourish. You can teach only a part the rest is learned in doing and that is why aboriginal culture cannot be bought.
Anonymous from USA Never Never Primitive but respected
Anonymous Never Never From what I've read I find them quite fascinating Their Dreamtime beliefs and way of life are leagues different from my own and that interests me.
Anonymous from USA 1 Never Proud gracious people
Marcelo Roque from Brazil Never 1 Ra
Philippe from Switzerland Never Never A very interesting people and culture Was mistreated in the past Difficulties to adapt to modern world
Carmen from USA 1 1 I feel aboriginal people are pretty to themselves and don't desire to be overly social. They have their own way about things and seem fine with it.
Carol from Australia Aus 10+ As a 60's child we had preconceived ideas about lazy heavy drinkers always fighting & unemployed. Over the years I have met some very inspiring indigenous people that have changed my impressions of aboriginal people. But with all races so few can bring the majority down
Katie from USA Never Never I think they are an amazing group of people on earth and I would absolutely love to learn there ways and lifestyle open heartedly. Very magnificent!!
Anonymous from Netherlands Never 1 I believe them to be proud and strong people. They must be to remain true to their core being. I think their connection to the natural world their stories and art are inspiring and something the modern world desperately needs if we want to ensure our survival in the ages to come.
Anonymous Never Never Deeply spiritual indigenous people who live an intentional life in connection with the earth.
Adam from USA 1 Never Like Native Americans their ways of life have been denigrated and destroyed by White society.
Anonymous from Japan Never Never I feel very attracted to the Aboriginal people and culture. Their culture sounds so mysterious exotic to me. My family are very close to Nature. Thanks to them from my childhood I could spent long time in nature and had rich learning from it. I leaved in African countries some time ago and now I am very curious to discover Australian Aboriginal people; discover how they feel nature how they live what they eat how they could transmit their culture until now.
Anonymous Never Never Very cool
Anonymous Aus 10+ They are proud and spiritual race
Rick from USA 1 1 Very intelligent and connected to the earth's vibrations.
Anonymous Never Never I don't really know much about aboriginal history and culture in Australia except some basic facts from history and contemporary culture lessons. Definitely not enough to form an opinion.
Linda from USA Never Never I love them!
Christopher from Australia Aus 10+ At my child's primary school there are a few Australian Aboriginal families. I have met them many times. All are decent pleasant hard working people. I have the greatest respect for them as individuals and as members of the greater and diverse school community.
Michael from USA 1 Never I am not sure if I have met one or not I have travelled a lot. However I feel a kind of kinship with them being part native American. All the shows that I have seen on the Discovery channel that have talked with Aboriginal people always remind me of the talks I used to have with my Great Grandmother.
Marc from Canada Never Never A beautiful natural people who bridge different eras of civilizations on Earth
Cora from USA Never 2 Australian Aboriginal people are friendly and willing to share stories of their life and their land
Andrew Sliwkowski from USA Never 1 No personal experience I remember in the movie 'Right Stuff' that Gordy Cooper was in Australia to man the Radar station during the Mercury Missions and the Astronauts could see the fires lit in Australia. I say kind of like American Indians they Know What Is and Know What Isn't. I think a Zen saying might say what I mean: "A rose has no why it blooms because". Human Beings who know how to get in harmony with Nature and OK with the mysteries of it. Hope that I visit one day I'd know I See Hear Feel a lot of things that are already always present but were concealed I hope I could share the gift back.
Carsten from United Kingdom Never Never Deep sensitive and kind people
Cynthia Chadwick from USA Never Never Earthy and awesome. I own a Pacific Northwest Indian Tom Tom (drum) made by Sammy from the Swinohmish Tribe in LaConner WA. I'm also part of a drum circle every Friday night. We have a didj player there too.....pretty awesome!! I attend the annual World Rhythm Festival in Seattle WA. Me and my drum are on the front page. Check it out. I'm wearing yellow shirt and playing my drum. http://swps.org/swps?dpage=indrhythmfestival
Djeeh Gaulin from Canada Never Never I am from America and I met native people from here. I don't know much of Aus. natives but I know natives are very connected well some of them to the great mother Earth. I do pay so much importance to the Earth and to all of it's nature. Respect.

Teresa from Canada Never Never They seem open honest and authentic
Ondrea from USA Never Never It looks peaceful would love to vacation
Gonzalo Quiroz from Argentina Never Never People who have a very good perception of the world
Rune from Denmark 1 1 The few Aboriginals I met in Australia were part of the tourist industry and so probably not quite representative of Aboriginals in general. However I perceived them as culturally proud people.
Art Loucks from USA Never 1 I have always wanted to visit Australia since high school and at sixty-four I'm still learning more about Aborigine culture and worship. Most of my work involves Native American cultures and symbolism incorporated into the blades I forge and rawhide sheaths I make for them. Aboriginal art and the cultures' closeness to the earth is something I plan on approaching in the future.
Michael from USA Never Never I have always been fascinated by Australia from surfing to the bush. And I have every intention of coming to Australia within the next two years with my wife and kids.
