Liddy Clark has resigned as Queensland's Indigenous policy minister,
after only a year in the role.
Premier Peter Beattie says he accepted Ms Clark's resignation late this
afternoon.
The resignation follows a Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC)
investigation into the Palm Island airfare affair.
It has been alleged that Ms Clark asked two Indigenous leader to lie
about who was to pay for a trip they made to the island at the
Government's request.
The CMC's interim report has found no official misconduct but says that
a press release issued in Ms Clark's name over the airfare controversy
was misleading.
There may be disciplinary action against two of her staff members.
Ms Clark's resignation takes effect at midnight. |
