Robinson trial reviews casino records

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 3 February 2005

A jury has heard Brisbane Treasury Casino records show ATSIC Commissioner 'Sugar' Ray Robinson turned over $4.3 million on gambling in just over three-and-a-half years.

The Crown submitted that between January 2000 and August 2004 Robinson lost $628,000 at the casino and a further $16,000 through his TAB account.

When asked about the casino records, Robinson replied: "It's a total fabrication".

Robinson has pleaded not guilty to two fraud charges, which stem from allegations he spent thousands of dollars belonging to an Indigenous housing company.

The trial continues.
