Long wants Howard to visit Indigenous communities

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 2 December 2004

Former AFL star Michael Long hopes he will be able to persuade the Prime Minister to visit Aboriginal communities.

Mr Long met local supporters this morning after completing his trip, mostly on foot, from Melbourne to Canberra.

He will meet Mr Howard tomorrow to discuss issues affecting Indigenous people.

"We want the Prime Minister to be closer to the issues and visit some of the communities to understand the issues at the grass roots level as well as from Canberra," he said.
