Aboriginal group 'points bone' at Howard

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 20 April 2004

Suspended Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission chairman Geoff Clark and a group of Aboriginal people have told the Prime Minister he is not welcome on their traditional land.

John Howard visited Colac in south-west Victoria to address members of the local community.

Mr Clark says the Aboriginal group is in Colac to "wave the bones" at Mr Howard, a ceremony that could bring him enlightenment or bad luck.

He says Aboriginal people will continue to protest while Mr Howard travels around the country in the lead up to the election.

Mr Howard has dismissed the threat, saying: "I don't think Mr Clark speaks for Indigenous Australia."

Mr Howard was also met by a group of dairy farmers angry at the prices they are receiving for their milk.
