Australia's first female Indigenous minister will today sit on the front bench of the Northern Territory Parliament.

Marion Scrymgour is one of four Aboriginal politicians elected to the Territory Parliament and was elevated to the Labor Government Ministry in a Cabinet reshuffle late last year.

Her portfolios include Family and Community Services and Environment and Heritage.

Ms Scrymgour says she is looking forward to facing her first Parliamentary sitting as a Minister.

"A few anxieties but look I think those anxieties are a positive rather than a negative," Ms Scrymgour said.

"They'll assist in keeping me focused and making sure that ... facing my first question time will be an experience."
