Yorta Yorta people planning to take native title claim to UN

Extract from Australian Broadcasting Corporation - ABC Online, on 13 Feb 2003

The Yorta Yorta people of north-east Victoria are continuing their fight
for land justice despite their native title claim being dismissed.

They are now making preparations to take their case to an international
audience, including the United Nations.

Spokeswoman Monica Morgan says support from the wider community is growing
with a recent meeting attracting 1,000 people.

Ms Morgan says her people still have a burning ambition to get the
recognition they deserve.

"It's not something that you can just knee jerk and just react on," she
said.

"I mean, we don't want to waste our time and energy on fruitless
processes, so we will do as we did with the native title, we will do as
much preparation beforehand but of course, what happens at the outcome,
nobody can predict, but all you can do is put your best foot forward."
